Initial Design Sketches

I created my indoor sketch to be inside the hut on the moon as the flying spiders break through the roof.

My prop here is a lighter that I have designed which acts as a flame frower in a lighter as a attack method against the spiders.

My character I have created is wearing a red radioactive spacesuit designed for emergency travel so it can handle what maybe unexpected.

I have created the outside area of the hut on the moon as the spiders are coming into the moon and attacking the hut.

I have changed my indoor design for my initial design changing it to the inside of the spaceship. This spaceship is inspired by gardens of the galaxy's ship and is meant to be obviously too big for my character Matilda so she feels overwhelmed.

My outdoor design hasn't changed a lot since my initial however I have made a number of changes where the hut is and completed remodelled the spider.

My character final design is very similar to my initial design with the concept of the red suit the same however I have made this design look much more realistic with the texture, shoes, zip and the head area.

I have changed the colour scheme on my final design for the moon cola adding in more hand details as well as taking the branding off. I took the branding off so it looks more realistic and matches the theme more by just having a code and a barcode.

My prop for the lighter has changed slightly since the design and has become a flip lighter which would be a more realistic design as it is easier to hold for Matilda. I have added lots of little bits to the lighter to make it look industrial and modified.

Evauation

I am very pleased with my final result for my concept art for my synopsis about a lonely traveller.

For my exterior design I was very set on my idea of having them alone on the moon and having the concept art towards the end of the film. The concept is the spiders have managed to travel to the moon and find Matilda who is the final survivor. The idea is that for the exterior she has traveled to the moon to start a new colony however the spiders manage to track down where she has gone and come after her. In the concept she has found a strange shack on the moon by the American flag and the spiders have come up to find her. If I was to do this design again I would change the design from a shack into a moon base style however I am very happy with the weird looking spider created from multiple different ones.

For my interior design I changed it up and did the interior of the spacecraft that takes Matilda to the moon. The craft is a futurist inspired craft rather than conventional rocket. The craft is inspired by the original gardens of the galaxy ship which Peter Quill used to fly alone like Matilda. The ship I created has customised seats, lighting, alarms and rails. The idea that Matilda could fly the ship by herself will be crazy to the viewer when they see multiple seats however before the scene the film would have shown a bit about Matilda and her smart brain. If I was to create my concept interior again I would have made a smaller space to work with allowing for more details to be implemented.

The costume I designed is a red hazmat suit specially design for this scenario. I wanted the suits not not be a standard white spacesuit. Wearing the red spacesuit and the yellow books symbolises there is a danger with the yellow seeing as a warning like nuclear and red being a danger. I added the zip, boots, gloves plastic mask, face, buttons, text and logos. Overall I am very happy with how this turned out as I think the suit looks great and it matches my initial design perfectly. If I was to do it again I would have incorporated more colours like yellow and orange into the centre of the suit.

The props I have created one being moon food which was originally going to be a can of cola and a lighter which is used to kill the spiders. The moon food started as a can of cola and quickly changed to food for the ship which will allow for scenes of her by herself traveling to the moon. Being along eating on the floor in a corner will show a depressing scene for 15 year old Matilda as she starts to realise it’s all alone. The lighter I have created allows for Matilda to kill the spiders as there is little gravity on the moon the flame out of the end of the lighter will be much higher than usual turning it into a mini flame thrower. The lighter will show a story as it used to be her fathers and she tears up using it to save her own life. Overall I am happy with my props however I would have changed the food prop to something different to use on the moon such as designing my own flag.

Overall I am very happy with my final concept art designs and how they have come out to look. If I were to complete this task again I would change some of the colour designs on the costume and some of the props to create a deeper story on the moon itself.
